Lhasa Tour with Yamdrok Lake covers the sightseeing of spectacular city Lhasa which houses the heritage sites like Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple, the Barkhor Street, a series of circular streets that encompass the Jokhang Temple along with the numerous merchants and vendors offering a wide variety of local Tibetan arts, crafts and tasty cuisines, the picturesque sight of Sera and Drepung Monasteries is also included in the tour along with the holy lake Yamdrok.

Lhasa located at an altitude of 3,700 meter is the capital of Tibet Autonomous Region. It is considered to be highest region in the world and often called as “the roof of the world”. Offering the spectacular Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery, Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery, Barkhor Market and Norbulinka Palace Lhasa serves as the popular destination for the traveler. Lhasa has many sites of historic interest, including the Potala Palace which was the chief residence of the Dalai Lama, Jokhang Temple, Sera Monastery and Norbulingka. The Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and the Norbulingka are UNESCO world heritage sites.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrive in Lhasa (3,650)

Lhasa Tour with Yamdrok Lake starts after arrival in Lhasa where you meet our representative who drives you at the hotel in Lhasa. Acclimatize at Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing Lhasa

Today we observe the popular place of Lhasa like Jokhang Temple, Potala Palace and Barkhor Street. The Jokhang temple is situated in Central Lhasa and is the ultimate pilgrimage destination for Tibetan Pilgrims. It is four-storey timber complex with a golden top. It adopted the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty, as well as those of Tibet and Nepal. The Jokhang Temple is surrounded by the Barkhor Street which comprises a series of circular streets that encompass numerous merchants and vendors offering a wide variety of local Tibetan arts, crafts and tasty cuisines. The Potala Palace situated in the Red Hill by the side of the Lhasa River is a treasure house where you can see precious arts and learn Tibetan culture and history. Climbing the steps up to the top, you can observe the great views of Lhasa city as well as beautiful plateau landscapes far away. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03: Lhasa Excursion

After breakfast we continue our tour at Lhasa visiting the Sera and Drepung Monasteries. The Sera Monastery is situated 5 km north to Lhasa. The monastery is magnificent and covers an area of 114,946 square meters (28 acres). Its main buildings are the Coqen Hall, Zhacang (college) and Kamcun (dormitory). The Drepung Monastery lies 8 kilometers west of Lhasa and is largest Monastery in the Tibet that occupies over 10,000 of Monks. The ground of Monastery is organized on the caves and temples for Jamyang Qoigyi, together with two magnificent white pagodas. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Lhasa – Yamdrok – Lhasa

Enjoying Lhasa Tour with Yamdrok Lake early in the morning we drive for Yamdrok Lake which is 100km to the northwest of Lhasa. Yamdrok Lake is one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet. The lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains and is fed by numerous small streams. It has attractive turquoise blue water and during winter, migratory birds come back and make a beautiful natural picture. After the detection of Yamdrok Lake we drive back for the Lhasa. Overnight at Lhasa.

Day 05: Departure

Your Lhasa Tour with Yamdrok Lake terminates today so early in the morning we drive for Gonggar airport and catch the flight and bid farewell to the mystic land Tibet.
